Our Lab welcomes students from around the world. While having been launched only recently, we have already been joined by not only Japanese students, but also students from China, Korea, Taiwan, France, and Bangladesh.
In addition, we actively promote and initiate joint international research with leading institutions from the US, Europe, Korea, and so on. For our joint research project with Princeton University, we were able to visit our counterparts in the US for face-to-face idea exchange and relationship building. And this year, our destinations will include Stanford University and IBM.
It is our goal to offer our students the opportunity to stay overseas to enrich their academic experience while expanding their personal network across the globe.
Within our Lab, we communicate in both Japanese and English.
Our Lab combines a friendly atmosphere with dedication to research.
We strive to foster the development of technical professionals who can actively contribute on the world stage when we send them off with their PhD degrees.
Integrated circuit is also a thriving field for industrial R&D. We actively promote and seek out opportunities for joint research with companies. Students are encouraged to pursue research that will have a significant impact on society with the aim of practical application in industry. For that purpose, it is important to have a good understanding of industrial and social trends. Together with faculty members who have a lot of industrial experience, let’s pioneer technologies that will provide the foundation for spawning new industries!
While at Kosuge Lab, everyone of our students will have the opportunity to design, fab, and evaluate their own chip at least once. (There may be exceptions depending on your specific research theme.)
You will be designing chips the same way, in the same environment, using the same tools as pros in IC-related companies. Your chips will be fabricated by world-class foundries. You will realize chips in advanced CMOS processes including the 28, 16, and 7nm nodes, and present your results at the world’s top international conferences.
It will be challenging to go from being a novice to creating your own chip. But going through the same design and evaluation flow as practicing engineers will allow you to take a big step towards becoming a professional at the forefront of the IC industry. You will be able to actively contribute immediately upon graduation.
While pursuing your master’s degree at Kosuge Lab, you will have the opportunity to present at international conferences.
Presenting at international conferences will help you build confidence as well as leave your mark with your research accomplishment in a tangible form. Major international conferences will offer you the platform to measure up your research and development competency against the world’s standards. Such experiences will become a valuable asset to you.
Your faculty mentors will provide as much active support as possible to enable you to present at major conferences. You will have the opportunity to present at top-tier international conferences such as ISSCC, VLSI Symposium, ASSCC, and Hot Chips.
The focus of our Lab is integrated circuit and AI technology. Both fields are making big strides forward and share the characteristics of having a lot to learn and opportunities to make major contributions.
As sonn as you join Kosuge Lab, we will provide you with design training geared towards your research. You will not only go through IC and AI design exercises, but also learn to read technical papers, create presentation slides, make oral presentations, and handle Q&As, in order to vigorously cultivate in you the fundamental skills required for research as well as communication skills. Our students are able to experience rapid growth and earn various distinguished research awards when they graduate.
At Kosuge Lab, we want to pass skills on to you that are useful throughout your life.
